African walking stick African style walking stick
Tall straight style.

One of the very few I actually know the wood type. Sycamore. I got this particular stick from a good friend of mine who happens to have a large property and has been planting assorted trees for many years. She collects unique sticks, and gave me several to carve.
When I described to her the stick I decided to carve over a year after she gave this to me, she knew right away which one it was as if it were a good friend.

Of all the sticks I've done so far, this is without any question the strongest, thickest, and one of the toughest to carve. This is an incredibly sturdy staff.

There are three african esk shields carved around the mid section, and a faux zebra stripe also carved into the wood with an african style weave above and below.
Please look over the pictures, I try to include one next to a yardstick.

I welcome questions, requests and suggestions for future carvings.
